If you’re a music artist and you’ve got a wicked song idea you need a way to make your song a reality. Recording your voice on rap instrumentals is an obvious task in the music making process. But did you know you do not have to drop hundreds of dollars to get your verses recorded professionally? These days rappers can make music on a budget and still get insane music. This is something many musicians that lease hip hop beats and instrumentals don’t understand or consider.
Q: Do I need to record my verses to my track in a large, expensive professional studio to get professional results ?
A: Of course not You do not need to record your vocals in a massive, pricey recording studio to have a professional song. You can record in any spot which is designed decently enough to record your voice. To be totally real, you can achieve some really awesome results by recording on instrumental beats with a few cheap pieces of hardware and your laptop. Don’t be fooled by these massive recording studio owners and their insane price tags telling you that you need to record using their archaic gear otherwise your song will not sound professional. Go to your local music gear store and look for a good condenser microphone and a USB audio interface (there are lots of cheap, entry-level options available). Condenser mics are vocal recording microphones and professional audio interfaces are basically computer sound cards for your computer so you can record your voice on beats with a professional mic. Now all you need to do is find a good "dead-sounding" (no echos) space. You can utilize a closet - just buy some studio foam to pad the walls with. You can most likely buy all of this stuff (excluding the laptop) for around $500.
If you do not want to take care of part of those things and simply hope to spit your vocals on top of your Music beats, what you can also do is simply search for a tiny project or home recording studio owner in your city and spit all of your vocals there. Go to Bing, do a search for local recording studios and find their hourly rate. A decent project studio will most likely charge you around $25-$35 per hour to record your voice. You can also try starting a relationship with people that have basement studios - they may not mind recording your song for free because they like your style of raps, hip hop beats or specific music project. The point is to search around and, more importantly, listen to other recordings the studios you email have recorded. Go with the one you feel sounds profession and is at a charge you can afford. And remember, you do not need a gigantic hundred thousand dollar studio to make your verse sound like it was recorded in one! Hope this helps!
